BRIGHTON — An art teacher at Bromley East Charter School is working to get a film league started at the school. Kelly Beach, who teaches fifth- through eighth-grade art, is currently working to raise $6,500 to purchase computers, video editing software and high definition cameras for the Brighton Youth Film League that’s planned to start during the 2013-14 school year.
“The funding of this project is going to help us branch beyond the iPad, iPhone and computer which we’re using for everything else in my room,” he said. “This is just going to really help us step it up a notch.”
Beach believes a video production, along with a school news program, is needed at the school. He said students are interested in film and that this program would give them another outlet to express their personal voice and expand their definition of art.
Beach is trying to raise funds through Kickstarter.com, a fundraising website designed to get creative projects started. Fundraising on the website is all or nothing, so all $6,500 would have to be raised for the project to be funded.

ABOUT OUR PROJECT:
Middle school students in Brighton, Colorado are looking for a way to express themselves. The Brighton Youth Film League is looking to create an opportunity for those students to do so through video production. These students are very creative and work hard with the materials currently available to them. We are working towards $6,500, so that we can provide our students with quality technology to help produce their films. Funds raised through this project will go directly towards cameras, computers, tripods, lights, microphones, and various other tools and materials needed.

FILM FEST 2014
With the help from our backers, we will also host the First Annual Brighton Youth Film League Film Festival in the Spring of 2014. We plan on making this an annual event, however we need student films to do so.
HELP WHERE SCHOOLS CAN'T
Budgets for the arts are shrinking every year and the arts are a vital part in educating the whole child. The Brighton Youth Film League, through Kickstarter.com, has jumped in to help fill the gap in funding.
IT'S ALL OR NOTHING!
Our goal of $6,500 needs to be reached soon! If we are not fully funded, then we will not be able to acquire the technology by the start of the school year!
Success!
